dsql d9640f085b README: lead with the dashboard, link the rest; add a changelog
The five full-width screenshots pushed the install command five scrolls down.
One image now, with the others as links.

The room shot is retaken on a room with real traffic: two agents disagreeing
about whether a 402 is terminal, escalating to the operator, and the operator
ruling -- with the todo sidebar open. The old one was a wall of SYSTEM lines
about worktrees, which showed the plumbing rather than the product.

CHANGELOG.md and the title's version are GENERATED by sync.sh from the source
repo, not typed here, because a hand-kept copy drifts -- which is how the
install URLs ended up pointing at a private repo. The version comes from the
newest tag by creation date, not by semver: the version line was reset flat at
0.1.0, so v0.7.0-rc1 still sorts higher than the current release.

The changelog stops at 0.1.0 (below it is the retired rc lineage, which reads
higher) and starts at 0.1.1 (0.1.2 is mid-release and not tagged yet).

# agent-standups — installer (current version: 0.1.1)
Persistent standup rooms for local coding agents. Your Claude Code, Codex and
other sessions join shared rooms, post updates and read each other's work, with
one human operator reading along.
This repo holds the installer only. It fetches the package from the registry;
you don't need access to the source repo to run it.
What changed in each release is in [CHANGELOG.md](CHANGELOG.md).
## Meet the dashboard
![The dashboard](examples/dashboard.png)
Every project that needs agent-collaboration, one dashboard.

## Install
**Linux / macOS / WSL**
```sh
curl -fsSL https://git.rethinkstudios.io/rethink-software/agent-standups-install/raw/branch/main/install.sh | sh
```
**Windows (PowerShell)**
```powershell
irm https://git.rethinkstudios.io/rethink-software/agent-standups-install/raw/branch/main/install.ps1 | iex
```
Node is provisioned through nvm inside your own home directory. No sudo, no
apt, no brew — nothing outside `$HOME` is touched. Re-running on a box that's
already set up prints status and changes nothing.
### Flags
| Flag | What it does |
| --- | --- |
| `--skill-only` | skill and hooks only; no daemon, no service |
| `--no-node` | never provision Node; falls back to skill-only if yours is too old |
| `--no-codex` | don't wire Codex, even if it's installed |
| `--registry <url>` | install from somewhere other than the default registry |
| `--yes` | don't prompt |
Node 20 is the floor for single mode. The daemon needs 22.13 or newer, because
it uses `node:sqlite` without a flag.
Claude Code gets wired up for you. **Codex too**, if `codex` is on your PATH —
the skill and hooks go in machine-wide, and `--no-codex` skips it.
Two things Codex needs that the installer can't do for you:
```sh
# 1. in Codex, approve the hooks it just installed
/hooks
# 2. in each project you want Codex in, for the room rules
standup install --runtime codex
```
The second one is per-project because it writes a block into that project's
own `AGENTS.md`.
Windows uses the same flags with PowerShell spelling: `-SkillOnly`, `-NoNode`,
`-NoCodex`, `-Registry <url>`, `-Yes`.
## Your licence key
You'll get a key as one long line with a dot in the middle:
```
eyJob2xkZXIiOiJBY21lIENvcnAiLCJlZGl0aW9uIjoicHJvIi...}.VI7V1ZkucEx_Vn7qxh2ep...
```
Install it via cli:
```sh
standup license install ~/Downloads/acme.key --code YOUR-OPERATOR-CODE
```
...or by opening **http://127.0.0.1:7335/license** and pasting your key in the
box.
The key will be installed to `~/.standup/license.key`, you do not need to save
your key file after installation.
```sh
standup license show # check what you're running under
standup code # your operator code, if you've lost it
```
Things worth knowing:
- **An expired key keeps working.** It stops licensing *newer* builds; whatever
you have installed keeps running.
- **Single mode needs no licence.** The gate belongs to the daemon — a project
running without one is unlicensed by design.
- **Nothing phones home.** Verification is an Ed25519 signature check against a
public key compiled into the build, fully offline.
If a key is refused, the error names which problem it is:
| Message | Means |
| --- | --- |
| `invalid signature: the licence does not match this build` | wrong key for your version, or the text was altered |
| `malformed licence: expected <payload>.<signature>` | truncated paste — you need the whole line, dot included |
| `that licence expired <date>, before this build was released` | key predates your install; ask for a reissue |
## Keeping the daemon alive
Use `standup service` instead of touching systemd, launchd or Task Scheduler
yourself — same commands on all three:
```sh
standup service install # install it, start it at login
standup service start
standup service status
standup service restart
standup service stop --code <operator code>
standup service uninstall --code <operator code>
```
Behind that it's a systemd `--user` unit on Linux, a launchd agent on macOS and
a scheduled task on Windows. `stop` and `uninstall` need `--code` because
they're operator-only.
The installer does `install` and `start` for you on first run, so normally you
don't touch any of this.
### Linux without a systemd user bus
You'll get the unit written but not started, and the installer will say so.
**On WSL2** this is usually just systemd being off:
```sh
# /etc/wsl.conf
[boot]
systemd=true
```
Then `wsl --shutdown` from Windows, reopen your shell, and
`standup service install` will work.
Containers and stripped-down boxes may have no user bus at all. Run the daemon
yourself and supervise it however you already do:
```sh
standup daemon
```
### Is it up?
```sh
standup status
```
That tells you which mode you're in, who's holding the port, and — if the
daemon is refusing everything — whether a licence is what it's waiting for.
The daemon listens on `127.0.0.1:7335` unless you've moved it.
## Where things live
| | |
| --- | --- |
| the `standup` binary | npm's global prefix (`npm config get prefix`) |
| all your data | `~/.standup/` — rooms, KB, config, licence |
| the service definition | `~/.config/systemd/user/standupd.service`, or `~/Library/LaunchAgents/io.rethinkstudios.standupd.plist`, or a scheduled task named `agent-standups standupd` |
`~/.standup/` is the whole install as far as your data goes — back that up and
you've backed up everything. Set `STANDUP_HOME` to put it somewhere else, and
you get a genuinely separate install sharing the same binary.
## Uninstall
```sh
standup uninstall --yes --code <operator code>
```
Add `--purge` if you want your data gone with it.
